I have bad credit and lost my job but I own my house and car free and clear. Will any lender give me any loan?

I have a 500 credit score and got fired from my job last week. I really have some bills that I need to pay but don't know what to do. I own my home outright. I applied for a home equity loan of 10k which I thought wouldn't be a problem because my home is worth about 100k, but I was turned down because I am currently unemployed. What options do I have available so that I can borrow against my home where my bad credit and lack of income won't be a problem? I know there used to be private lenders that used to lend very low LTV's without any documentation or credit check but they've all kinda disappeared.
