Is it possible hatch an egg with body heat?

My idiot brother has got this chicken egg and has taken up this challenge of trying to hatch this egg by body heat. I think that this egg is fertilised as we got it from our neighbour who has chickens.and roosters but I don't think he can suceed. He says that if he dosen't get a chick, he will try one of the quail egg. Will he suceed or fail? And can an egg be left about 1 hour without warmth still hatch?
