How does getting qualified for a mortgage work? Do the lenders actually SEE my credit card balance?

Based on score & history. Keep making payments + a little more than minimum. Keep you're amount of cards to only a few. Never cancel a card just keep the balance manageable or at zero...NEVER CANCEL.
