There's a gray bird with an iridescent head hanging out in my yard. What kind of bird is it?

& why is it hanging out in my yard. Does it have a wounded wing, or is this a common thing for that type of bird to do? It's about the size of a quail. it's very beautiful (: it's not a quail though, I promise.
